The cast of the satirical television show “Eretz Nehederet” (“A Wonderful Land”) came under fire from the Chief Rabbinate on Sunday after it was revealed that it had used a synagogue with an open Torah scroll for a promotional shoot.

The show’s producers chose the synagogue setting to mark its “bar mitzvah,” its completion of 13 seasons. But the Chief Rabbinate was aghast, saying the use of the synagogue in this way was a desecration.
